technology in our lives
Technology sucks. Actually,
technology is pretty cool when it works. I'm a geek, I work in the technology
industry, and I ought to love technology. For the most part, I do. But too
often, technology doesn't work. Things that are meant to simplify our lives
actually make them more complicated. In the worst cases, we mortal humans are
forced to change our behavior to match the expectations of computer software and
machines. And in the best cases, everything works the way it should.
A letter to Wal-Mart or,
harassing customers instead of crack dealers
We're down, you're dead or, how
to lose $70 when Cingular's Web site crashes
You're late or, how Sprint PCS
bills late fees for failure to pay a credit balance
We don't need no stinkin'
databases
or, how Northwest Airlines isn't interoperable with itself, let alone its
partner airlines
It's not really a coupon or, I hate credit card solicitations
Put down the Mighty Backhoe or, amazing things that can happen at 1AM
I'll have to release you from the store or, why you can't sign a credit card slip with your legal, valid signature
You don't have an account here or, why the bank can only see accounts in Texas and Florida when you're in California
We don't take your card or, why the Interlink logo doesn't really mean Interlink
