On Thursday, a cruise ship was in town. I took this picture just as it began steaming away. Soon thereafter, Signal Hill was engulfed in diesel fumes.

It's hard to see in the picture, but the white dots are hundreds of seagulls. They were flying around enjoying the wind.

Pippy Park reminded me of Forest Park in Portland, although it's even bigger--at least 1/3 the size of the city itself.

After the thin forests I saw in other parts of Newfoundland, the lush ferns and moss of Mount Scio were a welcome surprise.
